Network Sitcom Power Rankings – Fall 2012

This week the first round of new episodes made their way to the air. I watched The Big Bang Theory, Guys with Kids and Last Man Standing, the only shows haven’t been eliminated. I enjoyed them for different reasons. The Big Bang Theory felt like the good old show again. I missed the very first scene though, so I feel like I might have missed the better Leonard stuff. Guys With Kids was fun to see the flashback versions of the characters. Last Man Standing wasn’t quite as good as usual. That’s more or less that order I would put them in.

That said, I think I will end my network sitcom power rankings since a full half season is a pretty good indicator of what I thought of these shows. Keep on reading for the final results (not counting this week’s episodes):

(Show Name – Total – Avg)
#1 Apartment 23 – 9 – 1.29
#2 Parks and Recreation – 13 – 1.44
#3 Go On – 27 – 2.45
#4 Animal Practice – 16 – 2.67 – Canceled
#5 Suburgatory – 21 – 3.00
#6 (kind of) 1600 Penn – 4 – 4.00 (Only one episode and it was a light week, so… I’d put this more in the 12-15 range)
#6 The Neighbors – 50 – 5.00
#7 Modern Family – 52 – 5.20
#8 The Office – 53 – 5.89
#9 Ben and Kate – 61 – 6.10
#10 New Girl – 84 – 7.64
#11 The Big Bang Theory – 88 – 8.00
#12 Mindy Project – 75 – 8.33
#13 Up All Night – 95 – 8.64
#14 The Middle – 92 – 9.20
#15 Last Man Standing – 67 – 9.57
#16 Happy Endings – 70 – 10.00
#17 How I Met Your Mother – 125 – 10.42 – Eliminated
#18 Raising Hope – 94 – 11.75 – Eliminated
#19 Guys With Kids – 121 – 12.10
#20 Whitney – 52 – 13.00 – Eliminated
#21 Partners – 88 – 14.67 – Canceled
#22 2 Broke Girls – 106 – 15.14 – Eliminated
#23 Malibu Country – 46 – 15.33 – Eliminated
#24 Two and a Half Men – 64 – 16.00 – Eliminated
#25 30 Rock – 35 – 17.50 – Eliminated
#26 Mike and Molly – 37 – 18.50 – Eliminated
#27 New Normal – Eliminated

Unfortunately Rules of Engagement and Community didn’t get a chance on my list, but I would guess they would both break the top 10 bumping out Ben and Kate and New Girl. I expect most of these shows will continue at about the same quality for the rest of the season, hopefully some will become even better. Highlights I’m most interested in seeing: The Office finale, Up All Night’ transition to multi-cam,and pretty much everything about Apartment 23 and Parks and Rec.

Thanks for following these posts, or at least reading this one. I will eventually come up with a regular topic to post about that isn’t nearly as time intensive as this has been.
