The following is a list of movies I saw in the theater in 2012. I had a list of movies I wanted to see in the theater, but I fulfilled my goal quite poorly. Luckily all of the movies I did see were totally worth it.
21 Jump Street – Hilarious. Just hilarious. Even if you didn’t watch the original series, this is definitely worth seeing. (Saw this with my mom)
The Avengers – Instantly became my favorite super hero movie. Still is. Very funny, and brought the characters together for a fun adventure. Yeah, the getting them together part was drawn out a bit too much, and having the Hulk trapped inside a flying fortress wasn’t the best idea on anyone’s part, but I had a lot of fun every time I saw it, damn it! (Saw this with my mom in 2D, and by myself in 3D)
The Dark Knight Rises – A great conclusion to a fine trilogy. I liked it more than the previous two films, and the last 5 minutes or so really sold it for me. I didn’t like it quite as much as the Avengers though. (Saw this with Kirbie)
Argo – I loved this movie, my favorite of the year. Of all time even. Yes, even better than the Avengers! Everyone who loves films should see it. (Saw this with Kirbie)
Skyfall – This movie wasn’t even really on my radar until the video for Adele’s theme song popped up. That sold me on it, and I’m glad I went to see it because it’s the most entertained I’ve been by a James Bond film yet. I’m not a superfan or anything, but the references to the franchise’s history I did get made me all giddy. (Saw this with my brother-in-law)
Life of Pi – I tried reading the book years ago, but lost interest. I kind of knew the plot and stuff because my mom loved the book and told me what she thought were the most important parts. Obviously she wanted to go see the movie, so I went with her. I thought at the very least it will be interesting. Turned out to be amazing. It was a bit on the long side, but once I got past the first half hour I was totally on board. (Saw this with my mom)
My goal was to see at least 6 movies, so I guess I did barely succeed. I saw a ton of 2012’s releases on DVD such as That’s My Boy, People Like Us, Premium Rush, The Cabin in the Woods and more. The movie I most wanted to see was Cirque Du Soleil: Worlds Apart but there’s still time for that since it’s only been out a couple weeks!
I guess I’ll keep my goal for this year conservative, so stay tuned for a list of the movies I want to see in 2013!
